You may not be familiar with the mountains of Mutianyu (慕田峪). It is a about 70 kilometres from Beijing or about 1.5 hours by car. Mutianyu is popular with tourists visiting one of the world wonders called the Great Wall of China. The Mutianyu section is the longest and best restored part of the Great Wall open to tourists but most importantly it less crowded with tourists than Badaling. I have visited the Great Wall several times, literally and virtually, but never with virgin snow we had this morning. Even our Chinese travel guide, who visits the wall 6 days a week all year around, was so excited that she walked up with us to take some snapshots as well of Mutianyu fairytale landscape. The first photo is facing away from the Great Wall overlooking the snowy valley. Below is the magnificent view over the Great Wall from one of the 22 watchtowers on this wall section.
